MontGras Carmenere

Viña MontGras, in Chile's Colchagua Valley, was established in 1992 by brothers Hernán and Eduardo Gras, together with their partner Cristián Hartwig. The fruit of a mission to produce estate-grown wines of exceptional quality and originality, the MontGras estate today encompasses over 495 acres (200 hectares) planted to vine in the heart of Chile's wine-producing region. Since the first harvest in the early 1990s, MontGras wines have earned over 200 medals and awards worldwide, garnering international critical acclaim. Santiago Margozzini serves as head winemaker.

Colchagua Valley, a serene sub-valley of Rapel, is situated in Chile’s Central Region at the heart of the country’s premier wine-producing zone. Nestled between the Pacific Coastal Range to the west and the snow-capped Andes to the east, this rustic valley is a protected environment with positive maritime influences that foster a terroir ideal for the production of top-quality wines.

The first MontGras vineyards were planted in 1993 with clones from the oldest vineyards in the region and from overseas. Today, the three founding partners have over 150 hectares (370 acres) planted to vine.

“Our philosophy is to create excellent, “modern” Chilean wines with the personal touch that truly makes the difference.  Winemaking is an art; you are creating something which relies on all of your senses.”

— Hernán Gras
